I know Italia(!) started a thread about this yesterday but I can't find it. I can't imagine it was poofed but who knows.
Anyhow, I rec'd my watch yesterday in the goldtone. After seeing it, I completely get what Italia(!) was saying about the goldtone not being believable. I am not one to try and fool anyone with my jewelry. I have a fashion goldtone watch now and I've had people comment on it and I always say it's just a cheapy watch. Plus everyone who really knows me would know I wouldn't spend the money on a real gold watch because first of all I'm not a yellow gold fan and second of all, I have better things to spend my money on.
So initially when it was posted that this wouldn't look real I was thinking who really cares. It's a fashion watch and I'm not trying to fool anyone. However, this watch is so large and makes such a statement, I get where Italia(!) was coming from but it's hard to explain. To me personally, it looks like a fake gold watch. Even though my other watch is fake, it's not as big and bold as is and it doesn't have any bling around the face so I think I can get away with this.
I will say that the watch is very large and very substantial. There isn't a thing wimpy about it. My other issue with this watch is the fit. I had to remove all 3 foldover clasps so the watch didn't flop around on my wrist. It fits now with some looseness but when I bend my hand a certain way, the stem digs into my wrist and bothers me. It actually leaves a mark.
The other thing is the Gossip name is huge on this. I've read many comments before by people saying that this doesn't bother them and if someone is close enough to read the face of your watch, they are too close but I disagree. Some of you must be hanging around people with some awful eyesight. LOL I can read Gossip from a mile away on this watch. Not only that, if you are seated at a table with people for dinner, a meeting, standing around chit-chatting, the face of a watch is easily readable. That wouldn't be a deal breaker for me personally because again, I'm not trying to fool anyone but if you want people to think this watch is the real deal, that alone is going to be a dead giveaway.
I think I would have loved this in the gunmetal but I am definitely sending the gold back. I think I would have liked this better had there been no bling around the face.
