Re: RLM - Bronze the New Silver?

Last night he explained that silver was just too expensive and he had to start using different color metals, etc. before and now with the bronze he can have weighty pieces again without the price tag in one color.

Re: RLM - Bronze the New Silver?

I don't take exception to bronze jewelry as such, but to the inflated prices for this relatively cheap alloy. The items are being sold at prices that are nowhere near market value as someone alluded to here. I didn't mind spending a bit more for Bronzo Italia pieces (although I do recognize that those prices were also inflated) because one truly got the heft/substance in most cases and they were the same color throughout and not plated.

Re: RLM - Bronze the New Silver?

he was excited to be able to do big bold pieces again so I'm happy for him - although we don't want to pay the same prices for bronze as we used to for silver that's the current reality and the designer's work is included in the price and it's very interesting to see bronze in different colors

So, 60 cents a gram is too expensive? I just don't believe it when they say that. I think QVC became entirely too greedy.

Re: RLM - Bronze the New Silver?

I was stunned when I saw this, saved it for my DH to see and hear as we have had many discussions since doublelets and bronze have arrived on the jewelry scene. I have quite a few older RLM pieces and will treasure them. We were in the RLM store in NYC over the Summer chatting about the Q collection with the sales lady and I sensed a change was on the horizon but frankly I thought he was discontinuing his collection here.I am not a fan of doublelets at all. They are pretty with the inclusion of crystal but it's just a "look".

Re: RLM - Bronze the New Silver?

I've been shopping the AS Is selection for older, silver RLM pieces and have been very happy. All have been received in excellent condition. I did watch his show and while I do own quite a bit of Bronzo Italia and the G.I.L.I. bronzo, I just didn't want to move on to RLM's white and colored bronze.

Re: RLM - Bronze the New Silver?

I have several pairs of his silver earrings that I bought from the Q and I like them. I also have a few pieces of his costume jewelry made in mystery metals sold in stores like Bloomingdale's and Lord & Taylor which are relatively inexpensive and they're nice too. Paying a high price for not-silver jewelry just doesn't make sense to me.

Re: RLM - Bronze the New Silver?

I have lots of sterling silver and gold.

Just viewing his new pieces, I thought they LOOKED fabulous as far as the "silver" part went. They had all the vibrancy of silver.

I have some silver pieces I cannot get all the tarnish off. So, the fact that it would not tarnish would attract me.

Loved that waterfall type necklace. I don't care for too many of his big, bold, pieces.

I don't think silver prices should be charged if it's not silver!

I'm not buying much more jewelry, so it doesn't much matter to me.
