Question on selling scrap gold

I have about 12 grams of scrap 14kt gold I'd like to sell. I know the gold price per ounce was up to $1721.58 (per ounce = 30 grams) today and that selling scrap gold gets you much less than that.

Is there anyone out there who's sold gold (or knows of a friend who sold gold) recently and what they got per gram for their scrap 14kt gold? Even an estimate would help. I looked online a few places (for SCRAP GOLD) and I think it's about $50 per gram, but that seemed high to me.

If you have any tips or advice on selling scrap gold, I'm all ears (or eyes).
