Question About Doublets

Hi Everyone- I received my very first doublet and am wearing it today! (See the Ripkanista Sisterhood blog for pics), and I love it!

My question is, should I remove the ring when I wash my hands? Are doublets susceptible to leaking when water runs over them? I'm not used to taking my rings off, so this would be all new to me.
