Question About Crystals Set in Resin

Are these as secure as stones that are actually set the old-fashioned way like prongs or pave? I realize you shouldn't wash dishes while wearing rings made that way (actually, that's true for lots of rings, regardless of how stones are set) but they look so fragile, and well...cheap, at least to my eye. Yeah, from a distance they're very sparkly, but up close...I dunno. Maybe I'm just not used to the look as yet?
