What bothers me is their hair. Do something with it!! Beautiful gowns, but the hair looks barely washed.

Well, most nominated stars have stylists who coordinate the borrowed dress, borrowed jewels, and borrowed $5,000 Judith Lieber evening bags ..... and security guards abound at those shows.

My take on it is when you get (borrowed) diamonds from Harry Winston, they aren't going to be as big and bold as good quality "costume" jewelry .... the gown has to make the statement. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

I ended up going to bed . Bore. I saw today where the show got the lowest ratings in 6 yrs. I didn't care for the host in first place. Billy Crystal, was my fav host.

My feeling is that movie stars want to be more like their fans and not look too rich, as to seem better than us. Do you know what I mean? I wish they would go back to wearing those beautiful jewels. I think the last time I was impressed was when Angelina Jolie wore those huge emerald earrrings. I don't watch the Oscars now just because actors can't seem to keep their politics to themselves. I will see what they wore the next day on the Internet.

I don't know .... if someone says something about people starving in Africa (or whatever), I don't consider that "politics" .... it's about quality of life, and compassion.

Do comments like that really upset you that much ? {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

So glad you asked. Yes it does bother me. Can we just watch a show to be entertained and not have to think about the sorrows in the world???? I get plenty of that on the news. Who wants to hear movie stars talk about pay inequality?? I would rather hear them thank the military for making America safe, so that they can have their awards shows.

yeah, I'm just from a different time when it was Ok to flaunt your success and you didn't have to look like you just came in from a mission house when everybody knows your last movie grossed a fortune and you bought home a millions of dollars paycheck. Guess, I'm more from the Gilded Age. I got money , I worked for it and if you can't handle it then that's your problem. Get out and make yours too.

who was that person that wore sneakers one time to the Oscars? Poor women have been on diets for months, so, the cameras won't show a quarter inch of back fat and when it's all over they're running to the buffet tables. LOL Lord, help you if you have a grey hair or a pimple on your face or eek! an age spot. I'd be weak from hunger and just want to get out of my heels.

Me too Sharke!

I think today the dresses are the statement pieces and many designers imbed jewels within the dress, like Lapida Nyong'o and the pearls which seem to be the "in" thing at the award show this year...to add more would be overkill....I did see some statement necklaces such as Cate Blanchard's and there was a few others....The Oscars are just different today and reflect the younger nominees and their style preferences
