OT/Take 2/Bixby Mind's Eye ring

Wow. This one was more than worth re-ordering to see if I got a better piece. I received my second attempt at this ring and it is stunning. The chatoyancy and subtle color play that was missing from the first ring is wickedly apparent in the replacement. Also, the LBT stone in this one is a much higher grade than the first one. I have it on now with the Bixby abalone/teal pearl bracelet, and imo, this is a match made in heaven. The ring picks up the colors of the abalone and softly reflects them in the carved black mop that frames the LBT.

This ring has a technical challenge in its design, which probably explains why some are getting uncentered stones. The MOP surface is a domed marquis shape. I can't imagine how hard it must be to set a faceted stone in a curved surface, but when it's done right.....wow.

If you enjoy pieces remniscent of the "evil eye," I highly recommend this one, with the caveat that you might have to do the exchange game to get one that's perfect. Usually I won't play that game, but this ring is special, imo. Smiley Happy
