She may have started going to college late but she has done so well and has stuck with it. Today she had an appt. with a counselor at the Community College she goes to and the counselor told her with her grades she should aim much higher for transfer colleges than she is and that she could very easily get scholarships, grants, etc. She is not taking easy classes and has carried a 3.8 to a 4.0 each semester, while working full time. As it stands right now she'll be ready to transfer to a 4-year for Falll 2013, which is just what she had planned. Her counselor said that she could get into UC Berkeley or Mills College (a very good private college in this area) without any problem. DD has been shooting for a State college because of costs but her counselor encouraged her heavily to talk to UCB and Mills and see what they say about funding. The counselor said with all the cutbacks the colleges are getting right now - Thanks alot State of CA - getting into a State college may be harder than either UCB or Mills!

I can't tell you how so darn proud I am of my DD! She had a rough go of it in her teens and early 20's and I was pretty worried about her but she turned herself around, picked up her boot straps and marched forward and is doing so fabulous. Makes me want to cry - tears of joy for her. She's worked so hard, and kept at it even when she didn't want to and has done so well. I feel like wearing a big sign that says "I'm so proud of my daughter!" LOL
