Non-specific necklace wearing question

I have a dreadful turkey wattle- heredity (maternal grandma), thyroid disease, short neck, weight loss-weight gain etc.- and because of it, I've always avoided any choker-bib style necklaces, but since getting the American West Leather AD necklace, I've decided that shorter styles seem to de-emphasize the stuff between chin and throat. Has anyone else noticed this about themselves? I doubt that every necklace would work, but I'm loving some of my older necklaces that I used to wear with extenders.
