Re: No Kirks Folly On QVC...Very Sad

I will sorely miss Kirks Folly on QVC! It's almost as if QVC created a self-fulfilling prophesy: I'm sure they'd say they dropped KF because sales are down - and equally sure that if sales are down it's because they've pushed them off into the dark recesses of the morning for the past several years.

KF tried to put a bright face on those shows, saying something to the effect of us all 'gathering in the glow of the Seaview moon', but let's face it - those shows were on when most of us couldn't watch them.

I loved the escape into a happier world that these shows provided. Please, please, please QVC - bring these shows back - and at a decent time slot!

Well, obviously; fans were enjoying the programs and having all that "fun". But not actually buying anything. At least not buying enough to keep it on QVC. I think many of you don't seem to understand that QVC isn't an entertainment channel. It's retailer. Everything is driven by sales. I think Kirks Folly appealled to an older customer, those loyal customers are dying off and younger customers are not replacing them. KF might just end up at ShopHQ.

Again, give them a decent time slot so people can watch.

You're right about one thing. QVC is losing older customers, and certainly none of the young people I know are replacing them.

It appealed to a lot of young girls, mine included.

I think it's a shame that QVC is not scheduling any Kirk's Folly shows for the remainder of 2014. After 22 years of selling some of the most original, whimsical, and magical jewelry available, this is indeed a rather surprising and unflattering move on the network's part. Many ladies are unable to use the Internet and rely on TV broadcasts for their opportunity to peruse Kirk's Folly items. This is a disservice to all QVC customers who have supported Kirk's Folly over two decades. How many other QVC brands can boast that kind of fan loyalty?

QVC can't pay it's employees with loyalty. Kirk's Folly bit the dust because not enough of the people who claim to love the product so much ordered anything. You like the "show" but you didn't support the vendor by purchasing items.

Re: No Kirks Folly On QVC...Very Sad

I've loved the whimsy and fantasy of Kirk's Folly from practically the very beginning. I even went on the first Kirk's Folly cruise with the Kirks and Judy Crowell. What a fun time that was! I've thought it was obvious for some time that they were being phased out. I'm sure they'll only be on the UK until their contract expires. It's a real shame that QVC has treated a beloved brand and it's loyal customers so shabbily. Even if sales were down, one last grand send-off in the old style would have left everyone with much warmer feelings toward QVC. I'm part of the "old" and clearly no longer wanted group of customers who feel that the Q has changed for much the worse. I once loved QVC so much that I even bought a 14K gold QVC charm for my charm bracelet ... it was that much a part of my life. Now I'll check the lunchtime specials or new arrivals on the computer sometimes, but really never actually watch anymore. Well, I can still get all the KF I want on their website and keep in touch with the other KF lovers on Facebook. So it's QVC's loss not KF's. I know I really am an old timer now because I find myself missing the "golden era" ... Kathy Levine doing Diamonique, Jeff doing 18K gold in his tuxedo, actually taking off work for the big silver days, and Kirk's Folly doing those 2-3 hour themed fantasy shows with character actors and extravagant sets and costumes. I really do miss it, but I'm glad for everything I bought "back in the day". I used to think I was buying way too much, but now that I hardly ever see anything I want, I'm glad I have a jewelry armoire filled with things I love and will probably never see the like of again. I posted here because of the Kirk's Folly email, but I don't think for a minute that we'll see the Kirk's Folly shows of old back. QVC has moved on. I don't like it, but only time will tell if it was a wise financial move on their part. They are a business, and they want a different kind of customer than me now. Message received. I'll miss the old QVC, but I'm moving on from the new QVC myself.

Re: No Kirks Folly On QVC...Very Sad

I am so shocked that QVC would treat Kirk's Folly as they have, after this company has provided joy to so many of their customers and also made them so much money. I have watched them since the beginning, and saw when their first show sold out! Sadly enough, things were selling out on their last show as well, but instead of embracing that fact they renamed the show!! I was unable to watch since they were once again scheduled for the middle of the night, and couldn't figure out why I couldn't find the show listed on their roster of shows the next morning.
Seems like this was a planned downward spiral since first QVC prohibited the beautiful sets, and then started scheduling shows only in the middle of the night.
In any event, please bring back Kirk's Folly!! In this age of high technology, we all need a little whimsy in our lifes. Jenniefier not only brings us enchanting merchandise, but lifts our spirits with her "dream and believe" philosophy. Her beautiful, well-made, jewelry can't help but bring a smile to your face, with fairies, angels, mermaids, nature, and even classic storybook themes. The seaview moon and other glowing glass stones are unique and gorgeous. If you a looking for jewelry to celebrate a holiday, look no further. Jewelry like this cannot be found anywhere from anyone else. Be prepared to get some compliments when you wear it!!!
The internet broadcasts from Seaview and tbe Kirk's Folly website are wonderful, but it was nice to see them on QVC where they could reach the most people. Please, reconsider your decision, and bring back Kirk's Folly!!!!

Re: No Kirks Folly On QVC...Very Sad

Really disappointed in QVC. I've been a long time shopper (since about 1995-to me that's a long time) and not too happy with some of the changes over the last few years but understand it's a business. This one is just odd to me though. When they had KF shows on at a reasonable hour, virtually everything would sell out! It got to the point where you couldn't even take time to wait for an item to air or else it would be gone. Then they started putting all of their shows on in the middle of the night.

The worst part is what they seem to think are more desirable like the show with the travel voucher, which is essentially an infommercial to purchase a discount coupon. That's just one example of odd things I've seen pop up on the "Q" and I can tell you that I promptly turned it off.

Sorry, "Q", maybe I'm no longer your target audience but I hope you consider bringing KF back AND at in a decent time slot.

crystaltree - you're making a lot of assumptions here and unless you're Mike George or someone else "in the loop" at QVC, you have no more idea of why they dropped Kirk's Folly than any of the rest of us.

Also, thank you for your previous comment about KF only appealing to "older" customers and concluding that those customers are "dying off"! My goodness...I love KF and I don't think I've got one foot in the grave just yet.

One of the things that has most likely contributed to the demise of sales (if in fact that did happen) was the decision by the PTB to forbid KF from bringing in the elaborate sets that were so much a part of the fantasy and consigning them to horrible, generic sets and ridiculous hours in the dead of night. Someone was responsible for those decisions and it certainly wasn't the Kirk family nor the "loyal (but dying off) customers". Also, the absurdly high S&H - if you ordered multiple pieces (and I'm sure most of us KF fans did), the added cost of S&H was crazy. QVC should have done a "package" deal - other online retailers do.

I personally think that Mr. George and the new woman from Walmart want to take QVC in a "hip", "cool", "edgy" direction. I wish them well of it, but they won't be getting much of my money any more. And I did buy a lot of Kirk's Folly, both in England and here. I used to buy a lot of things from different ranges from them - but no more. They simply are not the unique shopping channel they used to be.

Bigger companies than QVC have failed when they refused to understand their "loyal" customer base.

I also am a "Boomer", but not dying off yet (I hope {#emotions_dlg.blink}). I just can't resist adding that perhaps the PTB should take a look at the recent troubles J. C. Penney's has been having. They too wanted to cater only to the "edgy", "hip" customer and worked hard to drive away the undesirable and "dying off" fogeys who were their loyal customer base. How'd that work out for them? Just say'in.

Re: No Kirks Folly On QVC...Very Sad

I am sick about QVC basically dropping Kirk's Folly. I love this line of jewelry. There is something for everyone. I don't know what is going on with QVC. They are slowly getting away from all the things that I love and moving to more ritzy expensive items, that frankly, just aren't my style. It seems that QVC is abandoning many venders that we all love. I hope the powers that be will please reconsider and schedule Kirk's Folly programs at decent hours and for years to come.
