Can anyone owning pieces with magnetic clasps tell me, should I keep the magnets together when not wearing them, separated, or does it matter? Does keeping them together preserve the batteries longer?

Oh, honey. Magnets don't have batteries.
Magnets are a piece of iron (or an ore, alloy, or other material) that has its component atoms so ordered that the material exhibits properties of magnetism, such as attracting other iron-containing objects or aligning itself in an external magnetic field.
Just one of nature's little tricks.

LOL. I didn't realize I wrote batteries. I mean preserve the magnets!

I don't think you can do much to destroy magnets, so you can store your jewelry with the magnetic clasps however you like.

I've never owned a magnetic clasp -- some things I've read here on the forums are that you need to pay attention because the clasp will stick to things like grocery carts and you might lose it ... sometimes the magnets will come unglued, and you can fix it with Krazy Glue, but be sure the magnets are facing correctly, otherwise they will repel instead of attract.

Yes, I've had that happen (attaching to other things) I was just wondering if there was a correct way to store them when not wearing them. Just curious....

Be careful not to store (or carry in your purse) magnets around your electronics. Magnets will damage the screen, and speakers on cellphones, tablets and such.

That's good to know. I only wear them and store them in a safekeeper when not wearing.....

No offense but I think that's a myth.

Because the magnet is recessed they don't seem so attracted to other steel objects like flatware. I got the leather magnetic stainless bracelet today and tried to get it to stick to a fork and it just wasn't interested. On 2/20/2014 Hibi said:LOL. I didn't realize I wrote batteries.
