I have a magnetic closure on a silver bracelet. Well, while shopping, I got too close to a metal clothing rack and it pulled the bracelet off. It fell to the floor, but I heard it drop and retrieved it.

Buyer beware.

Re: MAGNETIC JEWELRY HAZARDS

I have mostly magnetic closures.  They work well since I have small wrists.

I wear my nails long and don't want to struggle with clasps.

Haven't lost one yet!  Knock on my wooden head!

I recently purchased a magnetic clasp IM watch that I love!

I've found that happens in work - when working in a metal file cabinet drawer!  My wrist is pulled to and pinned against the drawer.  Thankfully, never had it pulled off my wrist though.

Re: MAGNETIC JEWELRY HAZARDS

yeah, I had one cling to a shopping cart. You have to be on your toes.

I put a Ross Simon GOLD magnet clasp on a gold bracelet and I watch it like a hawk. Mainly just wear to church.  Bigger the clasp easier to hook.

I paid over a thousand for a chunky gold rolo and thank God it came with big senorita clasp I don't have to try and get a volunteer to fasten for me.

LOL

magnets are great , but, be aware !

If you wear magnetic bracelets and haven't lost one, it's just a matter of time.  The most common attractions are grocery carts and the grocery meat case.  It's also not cool to pick up your arm in a restaurant and have silverware attached.

Magnets are great on necklaces.... bracelets, not so much.

Just an extra caution re: magnetic jewelry-- be careful if giving as a gift to anyone with a pacemaker.

My mother wore a pacemaker and per her doctors we had to be careful re:jewelry and the contents of the jewelry especially magnetic closures or attachments.

Re: MAGNETIC JEWELRY HAZARDS

@Shanus that is exactly my concern with bracelets with magnetic clasps.   I have one but it has the double safety clasps on it that secure the connection.   Right now I am still able to use a regular clasp but will move to the magnetic when needed.  Thanks for posting the alert and reminder.

Re: MAGNETIC JEWELRY HAZARDS

Not to mention that if you wear it while working on your laptop, it will mess with your laptop! It never occured to me to even consider it until I started typing and my laptop went blank. I realized right away and got my arm and bracelet away from it quick quick quick, but my computer engineer husband told me I had been lucky.

And, yes, shopping carts love them!
