My DH got me a steam cleaner for jewelry this Christmas. Due to us having to stage our house to sell it has been stacked away since early Jan. Anyway, I got it out today and cleaned all my rings. It does an amazing job! Everything looks brand new. I cleaned my wedding ring from my first marriage - it would be 49 years old now and the gold was all tarnished.It too now looks brand new.If you have a lot of jewelry I highly recommend one of these machines.

Exactly which one, brand, model? I’ve had two that did an eh job.

Isnt it exciting to rediscover the beauty in your jewelry?

That's a nice review.  I don't have one yet.  I do have a ultra sonic I keep filled with cleaning liquid.  I put my rings in after I take them off each night.  They soak as I sleep without the ultrasonic action .  It removes the grime from the day's work.

@151949

I bought the GEMPRO for my self several Christmases ago and I know exactly how beautiful the jewelry comes out.

However, it is very important to read what things should not be put in the device so as not to damage them.

What a phenomenal job it does on diamonds ! ! !

I did some research on this and I read that jewelers perform two steps; they use an ultrasonic cleaner first and a steam cleaner second.

Will jewelry come out as sparkly and clean using only steam?

Can someone recommend specific models. I looked on Bed, Bath & Beyond and it's hard to tell when reviews are so mixed. I've needed this for the longest and now that I also have a 5 stone anniversary band I would like it to stay looking its best.

Thanks!

@NycVixen I don't think mine could be any cleaner than it is now.

@NycVixen  Yes. Both machines clean jewelry well. I have both, but they are professional grade (purchased from jeweler’s catalogue) & much larger than what you’d need to clean your personal jewelry.

Use caution w/ either cleaning system. Any prongs or settings that are slightly loose can be jiggled enough to cause a stone to fall out. All jewelers ck. prongs, etc. for integrity before they clean them.

My unit has a basket under the steam nozzle so if you knock out a stone it will be caught in the basket.

It depends on what you're cleaning.  Not every gem is safe in a utrasonic or the steamer.   This comes from CD Nelson, they sell steam cleaners  This chart shows what gems are safe in Ultrasonics- Steam cleaning- boiling. ( yes jewelers boil diamonds)
