My cappuccino machine functions as a steam cleaner for jewelry.  And hubby's coffee maker has a steam nozzle as well!  Water only though, don't steam clean with milk!  LOL!!!!

Just a warning ... Before using any type of steam cleaner make absolutely sure that all gemstones are secure in their settings. Steam over time loosens stones and having worked in the jewelry business, I recommend having settings checked at least yearly before using either steam or ultra-sonic jewelry cleaners..

Re: Jewelry steam cleaner

Don't use the sonic cleaner on anything with prongs or glued in like marcasite.--it will rattle the stones right out . Should be fine for chains or solid type jewelry tho.

Same with a steam cleaner---don't use it on the soft stones that are glued in---use  mostly for the solid pieces of chain or earrings/rings. I use warm, soapy water with a drop or 2 of ammonia and a very soft toothbrush. Maybe a silver polishing cloth too. And on sterling silver, the liquid cleaner only diluted with water and not full strength. Watch out for jewelry that are oxidized on purpose too. Nothing too strong on them. Organic gems just a soft cloth. Found out the hard way by being to over zealous with cleaning  these things--ruined many fav pieces!!

There are many exceptions with cleaning jewelry with steam machines or sonic cleaners, sometimes it’s best left to a trusted jewelry store while you wait.

They should not charge (inquire first), will check prongs (good to know if intact even if not getting cleaned) and sometimes if you ask nicely, they’ll put the metal band, pendant, etc. portion of the piece on their pro size polishing wheel which will buff and polish out all scratches.
