I'm just curious - did anyone order the Jai lab diamond necklace from Tuesday 2/25's shows? It was definitely not something I could order but it looked beautiful. I follow the John Hardy design line & Jai always brings in something similar to what JH is already doing. They are already using lab diamonds in some pieces and according to their website the pieces seem to sell out quickly.
A few years ago my husband bought me the half carat Jai cushion shaped natural diamond & 14k bezel pendant necklace & coordinating dangle earrings as a special anniversary gift and they are just stunning. The craftsmanship is outstanding and the diamond pave really sparkles. Every time I wear them I feel happy.
I imagine this new lab diamond piece must be a real sparkler with over a 2 ctw center diamond. If you bought it I hope you love it! ![]()

It is an impressive looking necklace to be sure, very sturdy and sparkly.
But a two plus carat loose lab grown diamond stone is selling on the retail market for less than $600.00, and the price is constantly dropping.
Is the silver setting REALLY worth almost $2000.00?
A while back in a department store I bought a David Yurman silver and diamond ring, quite lovely, but a jeweler told my husband and me we were paying mainly just for the designer name, NOT the actual much lower value of the materials. My DH asked me not to buy any more diamonds set in silver, just gold. I did trade in the DY ring.
By the way, I do not purchase lab grown diamonds at all.
If you have the disposable funds to buy it and enjoy it, go for it.
But IMO it is rather overpriced.

@FancyPhillyshopper Do you mind saying why you do not purchase lab grown diamonds? Thanks

I didn't see that show and am not a diamond girl either so wouldn't buy-- but I see nothing wrong with lab grown gems--way less distructive to the earth and are diamonds still. I have a few lab grown gems that are stunning--- nothing fancy or crazy expensive but look great. Silver is beyond expensive not compared to gold but it has increased in price many times over what gold has lately. I have a ton of silver in my collection--from the old silver days here at the Q-- not looking to buy anymore--don't need or want it. but still like to look.

@Mom2Dogs and @FancyPhillyshopper , I have purchased a few pieces, rather DH did after I chose them
.
Gold prices are sky high and I don't think many designers can sell gold with real diamonds...think how much that would cost.
I don't see any difference between my lab grown and "real" diamonds except the price and they're also set in white gold or platinum like my diamonds.
I'm fairly sure silver is not a strong enough metal to hold a diamond lab grown or otherwise.

I saw the presentation of the necklace & was taken back by the beauty of the piece. Whoever decided upon this piece gets a stamp of approval from me! Ahh, I am green with envy, it is very beautiful!

I thought it was a beautiful piece. I would have been interested if I could have seen it in person.

Actually, it is.

Yes and the big stone is bezel-set to make it even more of a secure setting.
To have this look, a VS near colorless natural diamond would cost thousands more than $2500 for lab grown.

Pendant is pretty, but, I would like a smooth silver
chain, not that textured one.
