JR knotted bracelet

I received my bracelet yesterday and have a problem---while the bracelet is adjustable, I can't seem to adjust it when I've got it on. It has to be large enough to go over the hand but then it's too large on the wrist!

Wondering if I'm just being a dummy or if other people found they need two hands to pull the cords.
