So I'm looking through some of my old fashion jewelry and I have a couple of House of Ivana spider pins. One is the big spider pin and one is the regular size spider pin. The big spider has a green stone in it and the smaller one has a pink stone in it and they are both rhodium plated. The big one is similar in look to this one:

I bought them eons ago from The Shopping Channel in Canada when Ivana was a vendor there and on Value Vision in the U.S. For the life of me I can't remember what the spider was supposed to signify. Can anyone remember why Ivana picked the spider pin as her signature look?

I mean Joan Rivers had the bee pin and we all know that the bee symbolizes achieving the impossible as it's body is not ergonomic and shouldn't be able to fly but it does. It was her signature pin.

@TY that is interesting you collect spider pins.I am not a fan and actually fear spiders so I can't give you a positive spin or reason to wear a spider?..I get so many spider bites each year and they take forever to heal.I still have the marks on my neck from a couple I got last spring. Its almost that time again too

a quick google says spiders symbolize energy growth creativity.

interestingly the spider motif has a history in native American life.

I'm from the U.K. so might not have it quite right for here, but ...

In Britain, Butler and Wilson were having a big moment with their crystal spider pins.

It wasn't long after that when Ivana Trump turned up selling her lower priced version.

I can only remember Ivana selling on HSN back in the 90's, she sold some gorgeous suits for women.

I'm actually afraid of real spiders too. I think the jewelry spider is the only one I would actually touch! LOL. I don't like bees in real life either but I do have a couple of Joan Rivers bee pins too. Another bug that I'm afraid of is dragonflies. I don't own any dragonfly jewelry. I think it's because as a little kid I thought that they could sting you and I would run away from them.

I wonder if you aren't correct about this because I bought my spider pins in the late 90s or early 2000s and I remember Ivana always talking about European jewelry lines when she sold her jewelry on home shopping networks.

Unfortunately TSC in Canada never carried Ivana's clothing line and I think this was also before shopping channels had their websites up and running too so it was impossible to buy her clothing line in Canada back then.
