I am noticing that earring posts are getting bigger and I can't wear them

I just received a pair of sterling hoops and some stainless hoops, and they are lovely, but the post is flat and wide and won't go all the way through my ear? They look like terrible on because most of the post is sticking out the front of my piercing. I have also had to send back some Honora Bronze earrings because the post was too wide also.

I know my ears are very sensitive to weight and I cannot wear heavy earrings, but this post size thing has never been a problem before?

I have had my ears pierced for 30 years and wear earrings every day. Anyone else noticing this? Or am I alone in Freakville?
