There's so much pleasant, useful, and entertaining material posted on these boards -- I can't imagine allowing a few rude or snarky posters to run me off! It always amazes me that so many people take negative comments here so personally and are hurt or intimidated by them. It simply matters very little to me if some anonymous poster on a BB decides to post something sarcastic, undiplomatic, or downright ugly. I laugh, shake my head, and move on to something else. If someone really bothers you, you can put them on "ignore". The majority of people posting here are lovely, IMO. The ones who aren't lovely aren't worth a moment's pain.

This reminds me of an old adage that came up on the forums recently in regard to jewelry, but I think it applies to tastes, likes and dislikes of everything and everyone. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Opinions demonstrate this saying and they run the gamut as do the manners, class, tact, education and sophistication of the authors of the many posts.. . You have to take it all into account here, and remember that we are not in Kansas anymore when we come here.

Barb40, I don't know you but I hope you won't let some negative or rude people force you off. Who knows why some folks are impolite on here - maybe because they can do it anonymously?

There are some very interesting discussions on here that I would miss if I left permanently. I hope you'll reconsider.

I understand what the OP is saying. A few months ago I posted something and one person said something that was totally untrue about me and everyone followed along and it was terrible!

My family asked me why I bother with this website. I left for a while. Then I saw where someone posted that they missed me, so I post sometimes, though not like I used to.

There are more kind people in the world than nice people. It just seems that the loud mouth evil ones have a louder voice than ever before.

I think it is up to the kind people to drown out the loud mouth evil ones.

You leaving would mean they'd won another round.

I totally agree. I have thought the exact same thing many times. The snarky and biting remarks seem quite rude and unnecessary.

I echo Ford1224's comments. I made the mistake of posting when my dear husband passed away suddenly a few months ago and two established posters and a couple of "suddenly created nicknames" used it as an opportunity to say dreadful, hurtful things about me. I stayed away for months, mainly because my life and my health were in a downward spiral but partly because I couldn't tolerate such words and deeds as I saw here.

I realized, however, that the vast majority of posters are kind, compassionate, generous souls. And, frankly, I believe most of the negative nicknames are multiples which belong to a tiny handful of angry people.

Knowing these things, I've returned to post here. Not as much as before, granted, because "new" posters continue to show up and throw their darts. But I won't allow the actions of a few to overshadow the goodness of the majority.

I respectfully disagree with you on this statement. I don't believe for a second that the majority of the posters are kind, compassionate, generous souls. I'll probably get bashed for saying this, but this is truly how I feel. How can these posters be kind, compassionate generous souls when there's so many posts from these women that constantly cut down the physical looks of the hosts and vendors. Every day on the boards is the same thing, if the hosts talk too much, or their makeup isn't right, or they gained a lb. since the last time they were on or they have a zit on their face, it's posted here on the boards. What really gets me, is when somebody is very ill and needs prayers the same posters will offer their sympathy. I don't believe how anybody can be rude one min and then sympathetic the next min. I just don't buy it. And gosh forbid if you have a difference of opnion which I did over a stupid automatic car starter. I got kicked to the curb by posters because they didn't agree with my opinion. I don't care how nasty you all get, I don't take kindly to bullies, and I'll be darned if I would ever leave the boards and let them think they ran me off. Just won't happen. Hoping you change your mind and not let them think they won Barb.
