How long until it hits clearance?

Can anyone give me an average time from when an item is first introduced till it is on clearance? At least 6 months? If there is only a handful in each size remaining will it be put on clearance after a while to clear inventory? I'm thinking about a gold Affinity item in particular and am not sure if I want to pull the trigger or wait for a sale.
