Carat is a weight measurement not a size measurement.
It would clear up a lot of confusion if QVC would simply give the MM sizes of the stones like all jewelers do. For example, a 1ct round diamond is 6.5 mm, a 2ct round diamond is 8.1 mm, a 5ct round diamond is 11 mm. This is approximate as the final .1, .3, etc. will depend on the exact cut of a particular st

It would be nice if the Q would state the DEW (diamond equivalent weight) for their DMQ stones rather than CZ weights.
Excellent information, I did not know that. The photo online right now does still look very large on the model's hand. I look forward to the actual presentation video. Thank you @SilleeMee
@SilleeMee @Caaareful Shopper , I'm almost positive that when QVC lists a carat weight for diamonique, they are listing the diamond equivalent weight. Way back when, they used to list both the diamonique carat weight and the DEW on the screen. They stopped doing that and when they made the change, the hosts were stating during shows that the carat weight on the screen is the DEW. I'm assuming that is still their policy.
JTV lists both the bella luce carat weight and the DEW on the screen. They are the only ones that do that.

To answer the question, I would guess that Q, or any other shopping channel, does a version of a hosts wedding ring because of customer interest. I remember people were always commenting on Leah's wedding set and I believe Leah allowed Q to do a knock-off of it. And let's not forget Lisa Mason's flower ring that Q did a diamonique version of.
Leah also wears that highway ring and she allowed Q to do a version of it because viewers were asking about it. It didn't last in inventory long because the reviews were pretty horrible.
I seem to think that Q did a diamonique version of Shawn's engagement ring too but I don't remember that it had her name attributed to it.
MBR's inscribed ring was always diamonique that she bought to wear as her own wedding set. I also remember that for awhile Colleen Lopez wore a marquise cut absolute ring in 14k as her wedding ring.

JTV is really good about giving a lot of information. They even give the gram weight on their silver pieces. But jewelry is their business.![]()

I bought Amy's ring years ago and sent it back although I still love the black halo concept. It was just too small in scale. Courtney's ring looks a little large. I feel like Goldilocks, a ring in between would be just right. I'll wait for the video. I see one issue right now.. In the stills of Courtney, the ring flops to the left. I solve this issue in my larger scale rings by putting some of that rubber stuff on the back inside of the band. It looks terrible, but who sees it but me and it keeps the stone sitting upright.

@depglass For several dollars, a jewelers can attach a metal sizing bar to the underneath shank of the ring. If the ring were designed properly, more metal would have been added there at the bottom to add weight and keep the top of the ring from turning.

JTV also shows DEW for their moissanite as well. Moissanite weighs less than a diamond. After years learning how to determine a 1 carat from a 1.5 carat etc, I am now trying to learn size by a MM description. Jewelers rarely go by carat, except for their customers who live & die by carat weight.
I looked at Courtney's ring. The band & setting is not appropriate for the size & style of the stones. It needs a wider band, at least under the stones, if not the entire band. There are probably other ways to stop it from rolling.
QVC does not make clear the carat size of Diamonique in comparison to a diamond, which is ok but don't mislead your customers. Cubic zirconia weighs more than a diamond. Carats are based on weight.
One other thing I've read about diamonds vs CZs, the facets of a diamond have a knife like edge to the facets, the CZs are more soft or rounded. That is if you are comparing the 2 under a loupe.

ETA - Now I'm thoroughly confused...read on and you will be, too.
Thanks
I didn't know this information!!

I know a woman who has a 6 carat diamond ring. It is real..she lives in a 7500 sq ft house and her DH is a diamond broker. She wears it all the time but for me it is too big to look real...because it is so darn huge! ( it is also drop-dead gorgeous). Two of my daughters had 2-3 carat engagement rings...I still worry about them wearing them everywhere...an older lady near our neighborhood was followed home from the grocery store and killed for her five-carat diamond.
