Host-Designed Diamonique Rings

[ Edited ]

I know many of the hosts have designed their dream diamonique ring, or allowed a diamonique version of their own rings.

The latest is Courtney Khondabi.  It's item # J364686, over 6 cttw ring called, "The Courtney."

It's beautiful.  But I'm curious as to the demand for such a large stone?  Six carats seems like holiday party, but no place else to wear it.  Of course, I'm only speaking for myself.  It really is a beautiful ring, but was 3 or 3 1/2 cttw not big enough???

All I keep hearing is revenue in the jewelery industry has been down for a while.  Hmmm.  What are your thoughts?

Re: Host-Designed Diamonique Rings

I haven't yet seen a host-designed ring I'd wear.  Years ago I bought Kathy Levine's heart ring, but never wore it.  I'm just not the heart type.

A 6 carat ring would be ludicrous for me and my lifestyle.  I wouldn't even wear a 3 carat.

i have small hands....a 1 carat stone looks just right to me.

@Kachina624   My sentiments, exactly.   Host/Designer.   Uh huh.......it takes a degree in fine arts to accomplish that.    (I'm not a "heart" person, either.....)    di

Re: Host-Designed Diamonique Rings

I like the gemstone cabachon or faceted large stone rings to wear as a cocktail ring or a right-hand ring. But I guess for me I just prefer a solitaire diamonique to look like a diamond I would actually wear.

I'm sure there are others who love the larger size, and wear it beautifully.  But I'm not even tempted.

Keep in mind CZ carat weights are not the same as diamond carat weights. CZs weigh more than diamonds. For instance, Courtney's ring has a 5.7 carat center stone given as the weight for CZ. If you compare that with a diamond of equal dimensions then that would be close to a about a 3.5 carat diamond...apporox. It would be nice if the Q would state the DEW (diamond equivalent weight) for their DMQ stones rather than CZ weights.

ETA - Now I'm thoroughly confused...read on and you will be, too.Woman LOL

Re: Host-Designed Diamonique Rings

QVC has been doing that since the Kathy Levine days.  I even bought one of Kathy's hert rings and I probably couldn't afford it but I loved Kathy and Diamonique and I watched every minute of the the Sunday evening shows....so....I got the ring.  I think I wore a handful of times to a weddings or anniversary parties.  They do it to make money, obviously.  Women tend to be big fans of their favorite shopping channel hosts and obviouly enough of them will buy items like that to make it profitable for QVC.  It's pretty ring but not something that I would be interested in.

Excellent information, I did not know that. The photo online right now does still look very large on the model's hand.  I look forward to the actual presentation video.   Thank you @SilleeMee Smiley Happy

Re: Host-Designed Diamonique Rings

Carat: The carat size of a Diamonique simulated diamond is measured exactly the same as natural diamonds. Thus, a one-carat Diamonique stone is equal in size to a one-carat diamond.

How can that be true?? CZs weigh more than diamonds. There is a calculation factor of 1.7 (approx). The exact calculation depends on the cut and the millimeter size of the stone.

If DMQ stones were given in carat weights equal to that of diamonds then it should state DEW  which they do not and technically that is wrong.  IMO it's wrong to assume they are the same.  I found this on the DMQ home page:

"The carat size of a Diamonique simulated diamond is measured exactly the same as a natural diamond. Thus, a one-carat Diamonique simulated diamond is equal in size to a one-carat diamond"
