Costco has some nice pearl earrings I have noticed.  I am the real pearl girl!  A strand of pearls was the first thing I bought when I got a good job.

Later on the company and the jewelry store had a sale that overlapped for one day.  My jeweler called me and said you won't believe what I can sell these to you for today.  So I bought a shorter strand too.  Wore them both together for decades.

Re: Honora Pearls

[ Edited ]

@Sooner   I inherited a stand of expensive Akoya pearls many years ago (my grandmother passed them to my aunt and then to me). They are 36" long and I can wear them long or doubled. That's when my love of pearls began. My parents added a bracelet to match when I turned 50.

My DH added a strand that was 36", but a smaller mm. when my DS had his Bar Mitzvah at 13. I'm having the jeweler split it into two 18" necklaces...one for each granddaughter at their Bat Mitvah. The first one is in December. I think it will have special meaning knowing I wore them to their Dad's special occasion.

I was a big Honora pearl fan too and bought a few pieces---LOVE pearls and have found that JTV has some really nice pearls that I went crazy over--their show is called Precious World of Pearls and has been on these past few days--the vendor comes back every 4 or 5 weeks too. I mostly love the earrings and have so many that I do wear most the time and some strands too---mostly in colors so not fancy pants strands-----I aspire for golden south sea pearls--have a lovely pair of big golden pearls----I don't spend much either and usually only when there is free shipping.

Add me to the list of those who bought loads of Honora back when they were on a lot. But I do.wear my pearls on a regular basis, or did when I was dressing up more often. I have sets in many color combos but tend to stick with the white, grey and black pieces most of the time.

I was watching JTV earlier today and wondering if any of pearls being presented could be Honora. Also curious if any of the Israeli pearl jewelry they showed came from Or Paz.

My MIL told me that one should wear their pearls, if not, they become sad and lose their luster.

@NYshoppergirl ---from what I hear from the pearl vendor, is JTV has it's own buyers on pearls; but they do buy from other vendors that need to sell their stock--called opportunity buys--so maybe some of the israeli things do come from Or paz. I wondered the same.

I have lots of the pearl items  in colors-not natural  pearl colors but enhanced colors---a little less formal for me but I do have some lovely natural colors too--love the silver pearls the most---and of course ---someday---golden south seas will be mineWoman Wink

I love pearls but I won't wear those garishly-colored dyed pears Honora use to sell. Maybe a little tinge of pink or a breath of amethyst, but that's as far as I'd go.

Was it Honora that made the weighted fasteners for pearl earrings so they wouldn't make your earlobs sag? that was a brilliant idea. I bought 2 or 3 pairs just for the fasteners, since the sets that QVC was selling went for about $25 and a lot of other people were selling the fasteners alone for $50 !!!!!

I wear the pearls I bought from Honora - when they actually had designs that were interesting. I have a strand of what I call "fall colors" and I'm wearing them now. I agree that the stud earrings were really great and I do wear mine a lot.

I like long earrings but they are a pain wearing them with a mask.

They had gotten in a real rut though as far as what they were showing at QVC.

@Shanus Your pearls sound so lovely. What a wonderful family history you have with them.

Love your idea for the gift to your granddaughters.
