I decided to splurge and ordered J328828, the 12-15 mm white Ming pearl necklace. I had been disappointed with some prior Honora purchases (quality issues, cheap look) so had reservations about ordering these.  I'm glad I took the chance- they are truly spectacular- size, shape, and luster are all terrific! I'm wondering if there's anything special I should do beyond the "no hairspray, no perfume" rule to keep them in top condition. Anyone know? Thanks!

Clean them after wearing with a moist cloth and store them in the box they came in so they don't get scratched.  If they came on wire, I would consider having them restrung.

Pearls are highly porous.  Do NOT use any type of liquid, even a damp cloth on them.

Invest in a plain jewelry cloth that does not scratch.  All you do is rub gently if anything gets on them.

With this said, pearls will pick up the oils from your skin when wearing them.  This is normal and will create a luster unique to only you.

So yes, no hair spray, lotions...etc when wearing them.

I agree with the previous poster--no moisture when cleaning if possible! Microfiber cloths work great. I also highly recommend hanging pearl strands when you store them; it helps them retain the necklace shape better so that you don't have to "massage" them when you want to wear them. (I have a Lori Greiner armoire that is about 75% full of Honora!)

Re: Honora Ming Pearls

[ Edited ]

I love my Honora Pearls, I've been buying them for many years.  I never use any kind of cleaner on them, I clean them in my ultrasonic jewelry cleaner from Improvements.  I put them in the "dry" door (UV light) and they come out just fine.

Moist cloths will not harm your pearls.  Please see care and cleaning by the Cultured Pearl Association of America.
