I have a one carat pear shaped diamond that I am having set in a halo setting.

Do any of you ladies have a halo setting and, do you like it? Do you get compliments on it?

Thanks.

Please, please, please come to your senses and DO NOT get a halo setting...! FAD & will be a thing of the past in the very near future. Besides why in the name of all that is holy do you want a ring that looks just like every other ring in all the jewelry stores in every mall accross the country? JMO

I have a halo setting and it's not a fad. Mine is a replica of an estate piece from the early 1900's. Go for it!! I get compliments on mine all the time and some ask me if it is an estate piece. My girlfriend just bought one for her 50th and it's beautiful. Just look up Estate Halo rings and you will see how classic they are.

I have one. It is my engagement ring. Love it and the sentiment behind it - (I am the center of his universe). The halo style has been around for over a century. Princess Diana's sapphire ring was a halo style. Classics do not ever go out of style. The halo style was never a fad and never will be. Go for it - it sounds like it will be stunning!

I have one and love it, it gets a lot of attention. Mine is a round 1 carat diamond center with 7 point round diamonds encircling. It's a vintage inspired (Edwardian/Art Deco) custom design.

Halos are both classic and a current trend!

Halo rings are classic. If you're able to choose the clarity and color of the melee surrounding your pear try to match them within 1 grade. Having everything closely matched will make your center diamond appear larger.

We picked up my ring today and it is beyond my expectations. Even DH who knows nothing about jewelry, is impressed. I'm not sure how many very small stones surround the pear shaped center but there are six diamonds going down each side of the center. It makes the 1k center stone look much bigger.

I have a 2k oval shaped sapphire in a similar setting. It was my mom's and she got it when Princess Diana's ring was the rage. However, I did not realize that it was called a "halo" setting. The ring has withstood the test of time and I would not think of changing it.

As for fads, the original setting was dated so....there ya' have it!

I'm loving it.

I was given my aunt's diamond ring. It's old; she'd be 114 if still alive and it's a halo setting. Seems like a style that comes and goes.

They are absolutely a classic and not a fad!! That being said; they're not my thing. I prefer contemporary jewelry with clean lines and less fuss. But I do admire the classics on others. Smiley Happy
