I remember those days.  There was a nice man on HSN that did shows frequently.  He had a brother that sometimes helped.  His name is escaping me but it's something like Anthony Paluccio?  Palercio?  Anyway, I enjoyed his shows and bought various items from him.  He was on a lot with Colleen.

I was in Zales last week to get jewelry checked and cleaned, have a family ring examined for value, and look for a 20" box chain.  An 18" gold box chain was $999; needless to say I came home without one!

I think it's pretty obvious @swirvey why you don't see gold chains as we once did. Cost. There is already so much outrage at the price of items on QVC, and other places as well. I don't think QVC has the clientele that will purchase multiple solid gold items.

Price of gold has become prohibitive. Can't even find the styles of gold jewelry that were once available.

@RedTop  I went to the mall this past Tuesday to see if 2 of my 18k rope chains (18" & 16") could be repaired.  The clasps broke off decades ago after getting snagged on a clothing item.

The teeny tiny clasps were $25 a piece. Smiley Surprised They were 10k.  The jeweler just got them in.

Buying 2 new 18k rope necklaces would have cost me over $500.  <------- Realized this after scrapping myself off the floor from faint.gifwhen I heard the clasps price.  So I gladly handed over $50 & tipped him for putting my charms back on them the right way & putting both chains around my neck w/o me asking.  He refused the tip by the way.
