I realize that we are all thinking of Boston and the innocent victims and their families but I just have to tell you - gold traded today for $1370.50 a troy ounce!
The price per troy ounce has dropped $223.60 in the past 30 days and $283.60 in the past year. If this trend continues, we will be able to afford gold again!
Because there is at least a 50% markup in all fine jewelry, whether it has stones or it doesn't have stones, we might see lower prices in the very near future at QVC. QVC sells quality and they have the greatest selection but you know that like every business out there, QVC is profit driven.
So, if you see a gold show and they talk about old gold prices, this time it will be accurate as new prices are lower.
And, diamonds did go up by 30 to 40% but only those that are about 44 points or larger. Pave diamonds did not increase in value. You shouldn't pay anymore for them today than you did two years ago.
