For Anyone who bought Kunzite today...

I found myself appreciating QVC's ethics today. The very nice gentleman on Nancy Hornbeck's afternoon show said, in words to the effect, that the Kunzite he was selling "had been around long enough that it has probably faded as much as its going to." I was aware that Kunzite was prone to fading, but after researching on the internet I came across multiple articles verifying that Kunzite WILL fade if exposed to bright light, ending up a greyish, colorless stone, and it is recommended that one wear it at night to avoid this. Nancy said at least twice that the stone would fade, which I appreciated, but the gentleman's statement countered hers. I can't imagine spending 2K on a pendant only to confine it to a drawer for fear of the color disappearing. Anyone buy a piece? It is gorgeous, but so unstable.

Blue Zircon fades also in UV light. I keep my stones in the dark unless I wear them.

Nancy also said if you are not wearing that type of jewelry not to leave it out in the light but to keep it put away no type of lights are good for it to be exposed too. I agree that is a lot of money for something that you have to be so very careful with. Not for this lady but it sure is pretty looking.

All of the quartzes will fade if left in direct sunlight (smoky quartz, amethyst, citrine, etc.).

Very pale, not worth the money.

I have a Kunzite Ring and pendant set in 14kt gold that I bought five years ago, I live in fla and were it often and it has never lightened or faded. I just can't believe the price put on this gemstone. I got both of my 14kt Kunzite items for $325.00 and the quality is great.

I am constantly on the look out for a set of earrings to match, but QVC wanted way more than they are truly worth on the pair they offered---they did sell out though.

This stone is so worth the money. It sparkles just like a diamond and gives off flashes of brilliance that only few stones do. I love the ring and pendant I own.

Enjoy if you like it, but it does not worth it. Normally if the stone is cut correctly should be deeper color(larger stone). And also it could be Afgani material if it fades. Good Brazilian stones from Martha Rocha in Minas Gireas normally do not fade. But since QVC rarely discloses the details of your purchase there you have it, and you never know what you buy.As per kunzite itself it does sparkle ,it is lovely stone,no doubt, I just do not like pale ones, I rather then buy pink ammy, looks the same and cheaper.
