At this point I am a heliodor girl, but any exotic stone will do.

I have always loved amethysts, but only if they are deep, dark purple.

After diamonds, this is exactly how I feel. I love the deep, dark purple stones. Stunning!

Any color change gemstones, star sapphire, or chatoyant stones like Kyanite. I like stones that do something other then sit there and look pretty.

As for my other favorites, turquoise, inlaid stones, opals, and charoite. I'm fond of coral, spiny oyster shell, and malachite, and lapis also.

I used to think I had a couple of clear favorites, but no, there are too many of them I consider to be equally beautiful.

Aquamarines are my favorite, but they have to be deeply saturated blue to blue green. I have my grandmother's aquamarine from the 1920s set in white gold with diamonds on the side. It is an octagonal shape - about 3 cts. and just gorgeous. It's hard to find aquamarines with this beauty and color today!

I am a lover of all things colorful and sparkly! However, if I had serious money to burn I would spend it on an extremely high-end Colombian emerald. That stone mesmerizes me like no other.

Some of those I think are most beautiful are Madeira Citrine, Morganite, Santa Maria Aquamarine, basic red Garnets, Pariaba Tourmaline, Ceylon Sapphire, and so on and on and on...Alexandrite is also quite pretty. I love cut stones but am partial to cabochons.

I do like opaque stones, such as Turquoise (green or sky blue and matrix free), Malachite, Lapis, and Coral though some of those currently in vogue, like Labradorite, must be the beneficiaries of astute marketing because to me they're rarely appealing.
