I can't bring myself to buy silicone filled, electroform gold. I understand it gives the piece a little heft without using a lot of gold, it gives the item a bigger, bolder look and makes the new owner feel they have a thick, heavy bold piece of gold and it protects the thinner coat of gold from dents. But the process uses far less gold than you might think and yet we're still seeing $400 and $500 prices~! There was a ring I was very interested in until I read that it was electroform. Love the ring and would have used it as a wedding band, but don't love the price for what's basically a thin shell of gold filled with silicone.....
