@Mom2Dogs  I understand.  I think in general our skin gets a little thinner as we get older & I also cannot stand anything that weighs down my piercings no matter how pretty it is.

Re: Earring backs...

[ Edited ]

I wore huge heavy earrings back in the '80's. That stretched out my piercings so badly that I didn't wear any earrings for a very long time. Years later my derm told me that she could use a laser on my lobes to shrink the piercings so I said "Yes please!" and now I can wear earrings again. Derm asked me if I wanted Juvederm filler in my lobes to make them plump up but I said no to that. My lobes aren't deflated enough for fillers I don't think...lol!

@SilleeMee I never heard of a procedure for the ear lobes...Mine do not look stretched but good to know about the fix.

@Mom2Dogs   If you shop at the "Big River" website, there are a couple of options.  They sell packages of just the plain plastic disk that you could put on the post of any earring, then put the regular butterfly back on and use that to push the plastic disk against the back of your earlobes.  I use those on my threaded earrings, as tightening the threaded nut against the back of my ear tight enough to prevent drooping on my ancient earlobes made them sore.

Also available is an earring back that locks onto the post, the brand name is "Chrysmela".  They work on both smooth and threaded posts, and are available in platinum, yellow and rose gold both with and without the plastic disk.  I really love those, I wear  a yellow gold pair on my 18kt gold ball studs that my parents bought me as my very first pair of pierced earrings, decades ago.  Lots of sentimental as well as gold value, and the locking backs give me peace of mind.

QVC, you ought to be selling these locking backs, I am sure your customers would prefer to buy them here rather than eslewhere.  They really work very well.
