Earring Rant

I love wearing earrings, but why do the manufacturers/designers ruin a great earring by putting the finding at the top of the earring on a curved bar (that falls forward)? I have seen some fabulous earrings, but I won't buy them if they have that ugly hinge at the top.

I will only wear a shepherd's hook, French wire, or posts.
