My friend is looking for Asscher cut earring and both Q and the 'other channel' offer the size she is looking for.  I have seen lots of diamonique but I do not know if I have ever seen Absolute any feedback from someone who can compare?

TIA

@Abrowneyegirl. Does the Absolute stand behind the stone not getting cloudy, being replaced for the life of the stone/piece (if stone falls out)? Diamonique makes that claim and I trust that.

I have Diamonique that’s probably 25 yrs. old and looks new.

I have pieces of both lines and they are comparable.   She should check Victoria Wieck on Evine though.  I have some of her earrings in this cut and they are beautiful!!  Never disappointed with her line.

@LindaSal  Of course there is no Asscher WV earring currently for sale.  !!  I would love to see one, hopefully she can get one.

@Shanus  I have some very old diamonique, I wonder if the old stuff is better than the new?

I've owned both diamonique and absolute for many years.  In general, the stones seem to be comparable.... branded, named CZ that is a bit better than generic CZ.  However, there are some things to be aware of......

Only diamonique has a warranty on the stone.  But you need to save your receipt to claim coverage at a later date.

I've never had either diamonique or absolute yellow or dull or chip or crack over time.   But I have had that happen to non branded CZs.

The quality and metal used in the settings can greatly affect both the look and the longevity of the piece.  Thin gold setting may bend or break and silver (even plated with gold or rhodium) may tarnish over time.

Round cut stones will sparkle the best.

Smaller stones generally have more sparkle, regardless of the shape.

The quality of the cutting and therefore the resulting sparkle may differ even within the same cut within the same brand.  This is much more noticable on stones that are not round or that have a larger flat surface area (table).

Earrings generally hold up very well since they don't get the abuse that rings and bracelets get.  But if someone wears the earrings day and night, uses hair products, etc then over time any pair of earrings will need to be cleaned to keep the stones and metal looking good.   Also, very light weight and thin settings (which are the norm these days) are much more likely to bend or have the posts break or the backs fall off.  So,  depending upon the intended use, it might make sense to spend a little more for a better setting or get larger backs.

I have two absolute rings from Victoria when she was on HSN.  They really sparkle.  Even the crystal watches I have from her are very sparkly. I think it is the quality of her stones and the quality of her pieces in general.

@Abrowneyegirl. My older Diamonique pieces have stood the test of time. The pieces I purchased many years ago are gold because the price of gold then was not much more than the sterling silver prices for the settings today.
