I'm probably in the minority, but I think real diamonds are just boring....I guess I mean just diamonds and no color!

I like precious stones.  I think I just like flashy things.  I do like it when precious stones (i.e. rubies, saphires, etc) are mixed in with a 'few' diamonds.

Ever since I saw the movie "Blood Diamonds" (I think that was it) I've never cared much for them.

I've read up on diamonds and know that there are millions of them and they're kept in a vault to drive up the price of them.

All other gemstones respond to normal market pressures, that is the prices go up and down with demand and supply. This is not true for diamonds. Diamond prices are held artificially high by a very near complete monopoly by a single company. They hold huge amounts of diamonds in storage in order to crate a shortage and so keep the price up. For some not clear reason this price manipulation is allowed in diamonds but prohibited in other gems and precious metals.

Ok but diamonds do come in colors.  It's like anything else, we all have our preferences.  Our likes and dislikes.  I love it all....diamonds, colored stones.  Precious gems, semi precious.  Everything except man made and created stones.  They have lost favor with me.

Lab-created and/or man-made were never in favor with me. I like the real deal. Love fine, hard-to-find, top-of-the-line colored gemstones.

I agree with you @Annabellethecat66.  I much prefer colored gemstones.  I gave my sister a nice diamond ring I inherited from our aunt.  I never wore it whereas she wears and enjoys it daily.

There's something special about owning a real, good quality diamond. The lure to it's ownership is undeniable and people will always spend their fortunes to get them. I never understood this point of view. To me it's a symbol of wealth...a symbol and, for me, nothing more.

My Mom felt the same.

She was super interesting and had great taste.  She loved the opaque stones.

I have some beautiful Native American peices she left me.

Me, I love the bright, white, shiny of diamonds, or in my case lots of cz.

I must admit...diamonds are MY favorite....if you have a good quality one especially.....the beautiful colors radiate in different lighting......I will take them over other gems....but also love sapphires and black spinel...............

I love my diamond engagement ring because of the sentiment. Diamonds were always expensive and if your guy was willing to spend that kind of money on jewelry then maybe he was a keeper.LOL Like they say"a diamond is forever". I read some where, where American women are the biggest diamond lovers in the world.
