My DH bought me a diamond station necklace from Effy.  It is almost 1 ct and it is beautiful.  I just can't get past that it flips around and it mostly is on the wrong side with the point of the diamond showing.  Granted I'm not going to see this being on me but for that kind of money I want it to be perfect. For those who have this type of necklace does it bother you if it flips?

@Pecky   Been thinking and sketching since I hate that you're not happy that your necklace turns. Have you considered having the diamonds "mounted" (set) on a narrow omega or collar type necklace? It wouldn't be as fluid, but all your diamonds would show with the table facing up. This can also be done by placing the diamonds between a solid gold bar, not a chain, no more twisting, but also a heavier look.

@Pecky I have one, too, a 17" diamond station necklace.  It moves around, sometimes the stones face up, sometimes not.  It is the nature of that style of necklace, but if it bothers you, perhaps you can talk it over with your jeweler and see if something can be done to make it more to your liking.  For something like that, of course you want it to be perfect!

@VegasBusinessWoman   The only station necklaces I've seen not to show the culet of the stone have 2 diamonds set back to back at each station...bezel set. That naturally doubles the price and the necklace is bulkier & no longer the more delicate, everyday piece to wear.

@Shanus Thanks for your input.  You're probably right, of course, but this lady seems unhappy with what should be a wonderful piece.  My lame suggestion was intended to direct her to someone who would know more about it--like YOU, for instance.😁

@ShanusThank you for the great suggestion.  I am getting use to the necklace.  I am not looking in the mirror as much making sure that they are on the right side LOL

This is my diamond station necklace where there are two stones placed on each side of a 'shadow box' of gold. When it flips then there's no difference in the way it looks on my neckline. I purposely turned one of the stations on its side so you could see the setting.

@SilleeMee   That's a beautiful necklace with a perfect solution to the problem of seeing the "point". Not an issue for me, but still love how yours was designed.

That picture makes the diamonds look big. But they are very small. The whole necklace is only about a total of one carat...there are eighteen small stones, nine stations.

Thanks for your comments @Shanus , @VegasBusinessWoman .

Re: Diamond Station Necklaces

Yes, it's very annoying and it used to bug me (mine however, was DMQ), so I sent it back.  Besides being pokey, the diamonds (or DMQ) don't sparkle when the pointy side is up.

They later came out with a DMQ necklace made of stones that were still faceted, but flat on each side and it was much more comfortable to wear. The stones looked good from both sides.

The thing with the stones cut like regular diamonds is that you would think the stones have a fifty fifty shot at being right side up, but they don't.  It seems like they are always upside down.
