My DH bought me a diamond station necklace from Effy.  It is almost 1 ct and it is beautiful.  I just can't get past that it flips around and it mostly is on the wrong side with the point of the diamond showing.  Granted I'm not going to see this being on me but for that kind of money I want it to be perfect. For those who have this type of necklace does it bother you if it flips?

@Pecky   That's the nature of a diamond station necklace. Everyone (you, too)  can appreciate facets of the table of the diamond as well as from the culet (the point). Enjoy your gift.

Re: Diamond Station Necklaces

My dad bought mom a hand-made sterling necklace at a gallery in Albuquerque.  It has small etched plaques of various shapes attached to each other with jump rings.  They were constantly flipping to the plain backside.  She took it back to the store, complained and they sent it back to the silversmiths who put designs on the back identical to the front.

Yes, it would bother me bigtime.  I would return it and select something else.  It looks kind of silly to be walking around with the back of your necklace facing outward.  It was poorly designed.

I have a station necklace where the stones are faceted the same on either side so if it flips it looks the same. I can't remember the name of that type of faceting....rose cut?? maybe.

@GenXmuse   I hope OP has a sense of humor. Surely this was said in jest.

@Pecky I have one, too, a 17" diamond station necklace.  It moves around, sometimes the stones face up, sometimes not.  It is the nature of that style of necklace, but if it bothers you, perhaps you can talk it over with your jeweler and see if something can be done to make it more to your liking.  For something like that, of course you want it to be perfect!

I think that's the nature of station necklaces, they move as you move. I can understand how it would bother you, speak with you jeweler, perhaps he has a solution.

@VegasBusinessWoman   The only station necklaces I've seen not to show the culet of the stone have 2 diamonds set back to back at each station...bezel set. That naturally doubles the price and the necklace is bulkier & no longer the more delicate, everyday piece to wear.
