Bring back the color swatches

Last week I was watching a jewelry show on Shop HQ and the host was showing how the pieces looked when paired with differently colored fabric swatches. It was great because you could see which items in your wardrobe would pair nicely with the items for sale.

Years ago, the QVC hosts often used color swatches when selling jewelry. I liked that because it helped me see how I could get the most mileage from my purchases - for instance, I started buying turquoise jewelry when I saw how well it went with red, yellow, brown, etc.

I wish QVC would bring back the swatches. I also wish the hosts would tell customers some of the lore about the precious metals and gemstones, like they used to. I learned a lot about gold, silver and gems on the old shows.

I like when HSN does this, especially with Heidi Daus line with her multi colored crystals.

Wow...I'd forgotten they used to do that...Joan Rivers always showed things against swatches! It was nice to see the pieces against different colors and textures, really showed how they popped differently, depending what you put it up against.

Re: Bring back the color swatches

I think it depends on the host-vendor-product combination we get nowadays; over the past year, Terri Conn has brought out the swatches a few times in Carolyn Pollack and Honora shows (and maybe in an Affinity show?), and that has been fun and helpful. If memory serves, Jane Treacy also got them out for one of the Vault Discoveries shows with Peyton sometime during the past couple of years.
