@Pyrite2616 Thanks for the show times and the photos. I'm still doing some food prep for a family get together on Monday and will be up late tonight. I will watch on my iPad in the kitchen. Our main TV is on sports 24x7 this weekend, US Open, NCAA Football and MLB.

Re: American West Jewelry 8/31 & 9/1

Hello - I’m new to this forum. Always love the American West line. Always vibrant and beautiful. I was so surprised when looking at the description of the jewelry online that everything is imported now. I thought that was always one of the great things about the A.W. line - that the items were made here in the USA. Now it just says it’s designed in the US but listed as Imported Smiley Sad please bring the work back home to the USA. Love you AW!

@TRH - Welcome to the forums! I'm sure you'll enjoy them! You can always get good advice, and it's fun to discuss our AW pieces!

Carolyn and her husband Bill closed down their Albuquerque factory and semi retired a few years ago. Since then, as far as I know, Carolyn still designs almost all of the American West jewelry, but it is made overseas. One of the other designers she features once in a while is Fritz Casuse.

There is also a "Carolyn Pollack" forum under "My Favorite Brand." I tend to like that one because I can find discussions about her jewelry more easily. There are some interesting posts there, both current and older, you might enjoy reading. Smiley Happy

Re: American West Jewelry 8/31 & 9/1

This past year I purchased one of the last items made in the U.S. It’s a lovely bear to put on a chain. Very sad. I do not want Chinese made items if that is where they are being made.

@misschristy - The AW items are now being manufactured in India.

Re: American West Jewelry 8/31 & 9/1

@Pyrite2616 - I just wore that Kingman turquoise enhancer on that concha chain yesterday, and I received a compliment from a total stranger at a store that I frequent. The woman said, "What a beautiful necklace you are wearing!"

The color of the Kingman turquoise in the enhancer I received is such a deep, bright, happy blue that I reach for it and wear it often.

I hope everyone loves whatever they decide to purchase.

Re: American West Jewelry 8/31 & 9/1

Awe thank you so much for the info
I didn’t realize they had retired. (I’m wanting time to slow down a bit lol)
With that in mind I’m glad at least they’ve chosen to stay involved with designing
Still - i do miss the uniqueness of American made.
Thanks again!

I was under the impression--I may be wrong, correct me if I am--that Carolyn merely serves in a consultant capacity. QVC hires designers--in consultation with Carolyn. Most are in NM, although some may be in India where the jewelry is now manufactured. I don't think she's actually doing any design work any longer.

There are so many elements in designing jewelry and ushering it through manufacturing. From selecting the stones and other metals, determining the price point, etc. in addition to drafting the design and doing the casting. My impression was that she was a jack-of-all-trades at Relios but was assisted by many other designers and metal-workers.
