Re: American West Jewelry July 3, 2025

@Jersey Born

I am wracking my brains to remember that deep pink, sparkly Judith Ripka enhancer. I have some, but mostly I bought bracelets and rings.

Here are my guesses:

- Rhodolite garnet

- Ruby

- Pink tourmaline

- Pink sapphire

- Pink spinel

Inquiring minds need to know!

I always enjoy the exotic gemstones and would like to see some reasonably priced green tourmaline, blue zircon, etc. I love saturated peridot, too, and novel cuts of any sparkly gemstones. I've noticed that the Christian James line seems to be able to source swiss blue topaz rather than the more anemic sk blue topaz that Jai seems to be preoccupied with.

You just never know. Sometime the Q can knock things out of the park.  We'll have to be ready, lol.

@Jersey Born  Are you talking about Raspberry Doublet? It is crystal quartz over raspberry mother-of-pearl.

She said it was sparkly and expensive, if that helps. I don't consider MOP sparkly, even with a doublet,  but that may be exactly what she means.

I know what she wrote. To me, that item is purple and does not inherently sparkle, but she knows what she meant and will weigh in soon enough.

How  do you access your information and screen shots? Are you a current or former staffer?

Re: American West Jewelry July 3, 2025

@Sammycat1 - How funny! Your number 1 guess was correct! I guess you know my taste in gemstones and jewelry, in general, all too well. I do also like brighter pink sapphire stones, and I have nothing at all against pink spinel. I own no rubies-- yet, and pink tourmaline tends to lean more toward the pinky-brown shades, so I haven't fallen for any of them, yet.

I also like Swiss blue topaz waaaaaaay more than I like sky blue topaz.

I did notice on Facebook that Jai is bringing smaller sized rhodolite garnet and other exotic stones in a round enhancer. I tend to like larger-in-scale enhancers, however. But I do acknowledge when you have a true punch of intense color in a stone, sometimes smaller stones are enough. (I have an amazing multigem Q necklace from Judith Ripka with gemstones that are about one carat each, in different shapes, and that necklace just bursts with color, despite the smaller stone sizes.Sometimes, you just don't need gigantic honker-sized stones.

@Pyrite2616 - I actually have those pieces! I do love that raspberry doublet color. One of my regrets was not splurging for the matching doublet bracelet, due to its high cost.

I'm going to have to dig those pieces out and expose them to the light of day again.

Yup, @Pyrite2616 - I have that ring, too!

I know which enhancer you mean. Rhodolite is lovely. I went on a bender years ago on it so restrict it only to unusual designs now.

Quality pink tourmaline that avoids the brownish or salmon-like cast is available. If you like rhodolite, you'd love ruubellite tourmaline!

Ruby is DH's birthstone, so this has given me an excuse to collect it (including Judith Ripka pieces).

Speaking of her, I miss the days of her gemstone pieces here on the Q. I have the same gemstone bracelet you have, and of course, a slew of others.

p.s. I'm thinking of canceling the lapis bracelet...not enough gemstone for me.
