I didn't bother looking too closely at the alexandrite because I already know it is out of my league pricewise. As for the other gems, still the same old amethyst and blue topaz--I'm with tdog and stevieb, where are the other colored gemstones? There are sooooo many yet we don't see them. Wassup with that?

I am a Gem and Jewelry lover and collector when I can be and I have to say that the stone quality and variety on QVC has really hit the low..I am on the fence about ordering anything anymore bc the last few gem rings I have ordered I have sent back due to poor quality stones with no color. I have also noticed they are taking up the habit of putting black rhodium behind poor quality stones so that they appear darker...this is not so it looks designer...please...that is a sales pitch...its to hide bad stones. There are three pieces of Jewelry I want on the Q right now that I am waiting to either come down in price or be on easy pay bc the price is just to high and I am almost sure it will not be quality when I get it.

Risky to buy any color changing stone that one cannot hold and see, but this IS a feast for the eyes...

I thought this so-called Gem Week was a mediocre attempt all around. I don't know why QVC even bothered.

It was an afterthought. This was no gem week. They had a few hours and decided to fill it with some stones and call it a gem week.

QVC is not the place for gems anymore - I have gotten some great deals from JTV - hit or miss but some of their gems are great. Shop NBC has the best quality IMO and HSN does have some good jewelry lines.

My DH made me a beautiful big alexandrite ring over 30 years ago (my birthstone birthday present!) and the stone is SO pretty....nothing like the icky colored ones offered by the Q. When you see quality alexandrite stones you know it! The color change is fantastic. The junk stones offered on the Q do not compare.
