Hi, I recently ordered and received one of Joan's new faux turquoise salamander pins:http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.J260518.desc.Joan-Rivers-Faux-Turqu...
I like 98% of the pin. What I don't like about the pin is the little fella's eyes. I think they are supposed to be faux diamond. My salamander's right eye is clear, the left eye is cloudy like there's a cataract. I'm not kidding.
That said, even if both eyes were clear, something about clear eyes on this pin looks off to me. I think the pin would look better if the salamander had hematite, onyx or green eyes. I started thinking about trying to find stones (simple marquise) and replacing them. I figured I could pop the eyes out and glue replacements in.
Then it hit me ~ why not try to cover the existing eyes with a really good nail polish. I'm not looking for sparkle, I actually think enamel would look better. Maybe not a frosty nail polish, but one with some shimmer.
What do you think? Does it sound doable or a disaster in the making?
