A Question About Emerald Cuts

I just received my either Amythest or Purple Quartz Emerald Cut ring from NMLC, and I need some help. To start off, the ring is beautiful. In the shade, you see purple and you can see the steps. In the sunlight, you follow those steps all the way down to the palest shade, being able to see your skin through it at the bottom and the color is strongest along the stone's outline. When you turn your finger, you get all different options. Is the near clarity at the bottom supposed to be that way or does this in fact show that it is not amythest, but purple quartz (man-made?). Either way, it's a keeper. I was just trying to learn about emerald cuts as I have the Q blue topaz ring on the way. Very pretty!

TIA!
