wasps and nest

I saw several large wasps this morning while working in the yard. I watched and saw that they were around the gutter. Got a ladder, found the nest, and killed it. I still see a few wasps flying around, but I don't see them going to a specific. Could they just be confused because the nest is gone and they will eventually leave? I don't see a nest anywhere else.
