She has been giving the same story here forever. Telling people their Temptations crack because people take them from oven and set down on a cold granite countertop for one. I don't know anyone who would do this. I would never set a pan from oven on any type of countertop.

She also claims everyone must be lying about crazing and cracking. If it doesn't happen to her then it can't be true. I try not to pay attention to her posts anymore.

TT sells millions and millions of their sets of stoneware, if you are afraid they will break or don't like them for some reason -- don't buy them. Easy! I'm sure it is a low %. And , to be honest, I wouldn't believe everything I read on this board on any topic.

Sorry you don't believe people who have documented problems, but you could easily scroll on by such posts.

For those that want more than the usual being called a liar or hater here, there are a couple of facebook pages where people post lots of pictures of their Temp-tations (both good and bad), and if you follow especially the page, Temp-tationistas Anonymous, you can get a much better idea of how the product is performing for a larger group of people. That page has over 5500 members, and they are really up on what is new, how the products are performing, and lots of photos and posts about both sides of this product. That page has at least a couple of people a month who admit to denying the quality issues.......until it happened to them.

Never have understood those here that just want to deny there is a quality control issue with this line. I guess they just want something to argue about.

Unfortunately there are so many one post wonders who I think are trolls to be honest and just want to keep the debate going.   This is on both sides of course. I don't disbelieve most long term posters.

If I actually had one break in the oven at this point I would consider I more than got my monies worth.   I had a cast iron fajita pan crack in half once.    Now that was shocking.  It was a lodge and I'd had it for years.  I was preheating it for tortillas.

@debic

Oh my! Cracking cast iron, now that would scare me!

I love my TT, and still buy the occasional piece, but I know that much of it will not be handed down for many generations. It is what it is, pretty and fun, but with a lifespan that will most likely be less than much more expensive stoneware (like Fiesta). I enjoy it while I have it, and know that some will outlive me, and some won't.

The longevity of the pieces is kind of a combination of luck (some are just made better than others) and the use and care they receive. Like everything else in life, it has it's good and it's bad.

has anyone with issues os temptations tried to contact the company ? i just got some temptations and i registered them and they are giving 3 year warrentys onthere stuff.

@Pooky1  There have been a lot of bad customer service experiences regarding contacting the company regarding the warranty.....some were upset that even though the item was defective, that they had to pay for postage to return and get a replacement, others have said that replacement items weren't available for their set, or the company accused the customer of not following the care insructions even though the customer claimed to have followed them to the letter.....

.A friend bought a set of TT dinnerware and you could see thumprints painted on 2 of the plates.....TT would not replace 2 plates not properly painted she had to return the entire whole set....and she decided then and there to return the whole kit and kaboodle and go with another manufacturer.

I have a TT Christmas Cardinal baker that I treat like fine china....I hand wash, but don't let it soak, but wash it carefully by hand, andtowel dry it......so far no problems, but it is an older piece ....and some claim that's were the difference lies........the older pieces seem to have better quality...

I was having a conversation with my son yesterday about stoneware absorbing water through its unglazed parts and then exposed to heat or cold, causing crazing or cracking. It makes me wonder if you allow the piece to thoroughly dry (so that there's no moisture inside to expand or contract) would it still craze or crack?

Not soaking or getting too much water to absorb will help prevent crazing and cracking, but I have had pieces craze that never touch food or water, but are just used for display.

I think that sometimes, just improper glazing and firing lead to weakness in the glaze, and it will fail with little or no further compromise.

@Mominohio  A co-worker ordered some pieces and when she received them before she even used them, a few of the items were missing glaze in spots....so it's an issue of Quality Control too...

I have experienced the same thing.  I actually had a casserole dish crack apart while I was roasting and nearly had an oven fire.  Plus I have a service for 8 of the dishes and they look like they are 20 years old - chips all over the place

this thread was started 2015

why resurrect it - the complaints over the years have been the same!

I have had my temptations for about 7 years and they seem to be falling apart (eg:  handles falling off, random chipping, cracks...)

What is the average shelf life for these products?
