Speed Queen for years avoided the water preservation and water temp laws all the other companies had to follow because they claimed to be solely a commercial laundry business. But , in fact, they were selling to tthe public for home use. The government caught up to them and starting this year they are subject to all the same laws as every other company. So now SQ washers have all the same issues as every other manufacturer. Low water levels and water temp. control.

I have an older Speed Queen and have not had any problems. It is a basic top loader with no bells and whistles.

There are some pretty bad reviews on Amazon for newer models.  Not sure what brand I would buy now.

I am moving into a new home in a few months and need a full-size washer and dryer

 And a smaller stackable set

I am dreading shopping around because I like most of us prefer the old models that let you have so much more control on water and temperature and soaking capabilities

Does anybody have any recommendations  For a good full-size set ?

Me too @x Hedge!  As much as I dislike my GE top loader - I'm hoping it will last a very long time!

Good luck with that. Try looking for something used. I saw a used Speed Queen set for $700, wish I knew someone that needed one.
