It'd be great if we could use them for comforters, pillows, and other poofy things. However, few months ago, took out a NN striped comforter and allll the 'puff and filling' was at the bottom of the comforter. Now, what I'm asking is, has anyone else experienced this, or is it NOT good to put comforters or pillows in these? Do the items pooof back up for you? I've used many before, but never had an issue with 'keeping the poooofffff'. thank you for any comments.(sorry had to use different words to relate alofffffff)

I only use these for things I am going to store in my cedar chest as my experience with them is that they quickly leak and the bag fills with air again. But if I put them into a locked close container and it is full to the top they don't have any air to leak into them so they stay compacted. Sorry, OP , I can't answer your question. I just know they are a good way to fit more stuff into the cedar chest.

I've had wrinkle problems, but everything so far has poofed back up ok for me. They do tend to loose the vacuum over time, but I'm just glad to have the items inside something to keep the dust and such off of them. If they go in clean, they stay clean.

My comforters are baffle-box stitched so that the filling can't shift like that. I've had pillows in space bags and they did take a while to restore their shape. You can try tossing it in the dryer for a few minutes - that helped my pillows. I've got quite a few Space Bags in storage now and so far none have leaked or started filling with air again. They're not in danger of getting wet where they are (unless the fire sprinklers go off), but they're definitely sealed against dust and bugs. My current bags have been sealed anywhere from 3-6 months, but I've had one in the past that was sealed for 2 years before I opened it again.

Thank you all. I've also experienced the 'opening' of the sealed bag after a while. I still feel good that they're 'semi' enclosed from heat/bugs/etc. Wish they worked like they're supposed to, wouldn't that be nice for everything?!

I've refreshed my comforters by tossing them into the clothes dryer, tumble only/no heat, with a couple of clean tennis balls for a few minutes. Sometimes if they smell a little stale I'll spritz a little Febreze on it first.
edit: I guess I should add that the tumbling in the dryer helps f*l*u*f*f (that word's not allowed!)up the comforter

Is it possible for anyone to tell me why that word is not allowed??? I tried to post a cat picture that had a caption on the Viewpoints thread "Pictures of Just Cats", and it said it would not allow that word. The word was not anywhere to be seen on the picture, so I was totally confused. What's wrong with that word...am I being dumb?

Never mind!! I'm answering my own post - I just found out the "other" meaning for this word! LOL - But I still don't know why I couldn't post the cat picture!!
BTW, I do use space bags and find them great for storage - but I have not tried putting comforters and pillows in the big ones.

It's a good thing I have such a great relationship with my son--I don't think anyone could have explained it on here!
