Actually, I think everyone that reads this post should email everyone on their email list this info. along with a link. Ask them to forward the email to everyone on their email list. Pretty soon everyone would have it!

I've been using this to donate to a golden retriever rescue. Also changed my monthly subscriptions to it too. Amazon donates .05 of purchases to your charity.

this is an all year thing, not just for the holidays. another way to let people know about this is when you make a purchase via AmazonSmile there is an option to share on FB. it will say something like "Jane Smith just made a purchase on Amazon Smile and donated a portion of the purchase price to xyz charity" ( or something like that). if anyone sees that and is interested, they can click on it for more information about signing up.

I just did my first purchase using smile.amazon.com. Dang, I've bought so much in the past and really wished I would have known about this.

It was a larger purchase and donated to Operation Smile. I picked my own organization rather than went with one they had listed.

I will change charity organizations occasionally since I'd like to donate to more than one.

OP, thank you so much for posting about this!

I signed up at the beginning of 2014 and designated a small wildlife center in SW Florida which had not as yet had registered for Amazon Smile. I had specifically looked for it and it was in Amazon's database of eligible charities. It took several months after that for the center to register for the program, and the $$ waiting for them then went to them. I recently noted that the wildlife center's website now mentions the Smile program.

So if you have a charity in mind that is not yet set up to receive the donations, your act of designating them as the recipient could be sufficient to get the process in motion.

I signed up for my one kitty's rescue organization and BF signed up for the other kitty's rescue group.
