Sherwin Williams has the low VOC paint too. That is what I used recently when I painted my bedroom. No fumes at all,it was great.

I have used SW paint for years an love it. It covers anything in 1-2 coats. A few years ago I tried Benjamin Moore, because it's supposed to be the best. It took more coat to cover.

I am the odd man out here I guess. It is not my favorite paint. The color selection is fabulous, but the quality in the reds, greens and golds is not there. The reds fade badly, and the greens rthat face the light do change color a bit. I have heard this from several people, as well as my experience. . I prefer Dunn Edwards and Benjamin Moore. Home Depot has a new paint that is really good, expensive though.

If you paint a lot, like every 5 years it probably doesn't matter. I have a mix match in my house. I have Kelly Moore in 2 bedrooms, and the kitchen. Benjamin Moore the rest of the house. But all the indoor doors and baseboards are Ralph Lauren deep cream. The outside paint of the house is Dunn Edwards and I cannot even compare with any paint, that's how good it is. We did eggshell finish on the house in 2000! It is a green, and it looks like it was just painted! We did use a sherwin williams on some of the trim, and that has had to be done 3X. It faded, chipped and just didn't last. JMHO

More and more paint brands are not color matching. Some just can't because they do not use the universal color system.Dunn Edawards is one. I think Benjamin Moore may be headed there. Some SW, Home Depots and Lowes will not color match, unless it is their brand.Some just flat out will not do it. I heard that many have opted out of the computer matching machine. Then there was an issue of infringement. But I think it boils down to the fact that they do not have talent to do it. They don't always have a painter, or a professional person familiar with painting and color. They just pay the kids to put the can on the machine, add the color by computer from universal pigment and shake the can. Some can't figure out how to lighten the formula 2 values. I have to get behind the counter and show them show them. Haha,

I might ask when you get paint if it is matchable if you get a custom color. Also, what if they discontinue the color, can they match it? SW wouldn't match, even though it was their paint, because they said they changed the formula. So that is a thought. How often do they change lines of paint. Most of the time this is mnot an issue. But we found a custom red we love on out front door. It was discontinued, then the color match was not as good.

Huh maybe its regional regarding not color matching?? I just went through picking out paint for our new cottage that was just built. I found that everyone color matched. I found a color in another brand and took my sample piece to Home Depot and they gladly matched it to their Behr paint. I find that everyone does this where I live. I really love the color matching they do for consumers now! Makes life so much easier! Smile

We just had our front door painted cobalt blue. Stepping out of my box. SW paint went on smooth and covered very nicely.

It could be regional. I think it is just in stores that do not have the equipment, or the help to do it. I was a little confused myself. The SW here in our town does not do color matching of other companies. Kelly Moore lost their colorist, and hasn't done it the last year. Home Depot does it for paints they sell, but only certain ones. I don't get it. Unless the employess are ill informed.

I have a house color I want to duplicate. I used Dunn Edwards, and luckily we kept the "recipe". I need to duplicate colors all the time.

I prefer Pratt & Lambert...or Farrow & Ball.

Both are top quality paint. You need less paint and it lasts longer...plus they have great colors.

I have heard of Pratt and Lambert. There is one store in my part of california. Thanks terrior. There is one 25 miles from here. I am a paint fanatic. I used to do faux painting as a side line, and I am picky about paint, and the colors.
