pros vs cons deciding on flooring

hi,

I have decided i need new flooring in my 2 adjoining bedrooms. Carpet or tile is out.

My choices are vinyl, laminate, or hardwood. I am leaning to the look of hardwoods. Is the cost that much more than the laminate? Does anyone have the vinyl that looks like hardwood? There is just so much to choose from. I know that with the laminate they say they sound different when you walk on them. I never wear a heel, so i don't think that will be too much of a issue. What about wear? The vinyl, there are just so many choices now also. Any one have the vinyl that looks like tile? I have 2 rompy,stompy dogs. So if i get the laminate/hardwoods does it scratch easily? I will be having whatever i choose installed professionally.
