David O. Russell is looking to reteam with his American Hustle co-star Jennifer Lawrence and may have found the vehicle.

Russell is in discussions to rewrite and direct an untitled biopic of Joy Mangano, set up at Fox 2000,THR has confirmed.

Sources say that Russell wants Lawrence to play the part of the inventor to the Miracle Mop but seeing as Russell is only beginning his dealmaking, the Lawrence factor is considerably a ways off.

Best known as the inventor the Miracle Mop, the film would tell the story of Mangano's transformation from a single mother in Long Island to a QVC star.

Mangano is a fixture on the Home Shopping Network with her many inventions, probably none more famous that the mop. She began her inventing as a teen and kept on dreaming and tinkering while a single mom raising three kids.

The project is seen as an female empowerment tale and has a script by Annie Mumolo, the scribe behind Bridesmaids. John Davis and John Fox are producing via Fox-based Davis Entertainment.Ken Mok is also producing.

Russell is coming off of his award-winning commercial hit American Hustle, which has 10 Oscar nominations. The filmmaker has shown an affinity to work with the many of the same actors and beforeHustle worked with Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook. Lawrence won her first Oscar for the latter, in the best supporting category.

Re: possible Joy Mangano biopic

Should be very unique, as David O. Russell has a special view of things. And supremely-talented JLaw can do any role. Would be great, too, if there was some wry/dry/sly humor mixed in. Smiley Wink

Side note about OP's post: I would have thought JM huggable hangers surpassed the mop by now...no doubt I'm wrong though. All of our closets have JM's hangers. However, like LG, I can't watch JM for more than 10 minutes at a time.

Lastly...an afterthought...

For those who enjoy Shark Tank, I think it might make for an interesting show if Joy Mangano and Lori Greiner were on it at the same time...

Interesting point re: her "Huggable Hangers". Never used them myself, but have read that they're worth the $.

I enjoy 'Shark tank" with Barbara Corcoran and Lori, but probably could only handle Joy if she fills in sometime, not permanently. Just sayin'...
